Coffee with God

Sometimes I’m really complacent.

I have a very specific morning routine. I get up, pray and read my Bible. I cannot go out or be on my phone or anything like that before I complete my morning routine.

Let me just say, it makes all the difference in my day too. The little things aren’t catastrophic like they can seem when I don’t spend that time with God. However, that’s another blog for another day.

The complacency aspect comes into play when I think of how it might effect my afternoon time. One thing I have had to stay conscience of with my morning and afternoon time is that I don’t try to replace one with the other.

I need to spend as much time with God as I possibly can. And I have to make sure I’m not spending time in the morning with Him to make up for the time I won’t give Him in the afternoon. It’s an easy mistake to make. I’m definitely not proud of the fact that I’ve made it either. It’s like when I was younger and I would think going to church should replace reading my Bible in the morning for that day. No. It should still be read to receive even more of what’s waiting for me at church.

The mistake I’ve made before is assuming God would be happy either way. He’ll take what I give Him and be happy. He will, but I shouldn’t come into a situation saying God will just have to be happy with what I can offer. Oh no, God will be happy with my first fruits in the morning and afternoon. That is what I can at least offer Him!

What I have learned is that the morning routine that God has given me isn’t to replace our afternoon time, but to enhance it.
