As 2015 comes to a close I am plagued with the thought of what I really want from the new year. I love resolutions, and I get specific and detailed when I make mine. But as of late, what I’ve realized is that in the end we usually just want to the perfect year.
With a new year we resolve to find the perfect job, the perfect relationship, the perfect home/car, etc. We all know that perfection is unattainable but that doesn’t mean we cease to want it. In a nutshell, perfection is our ultimate resolution for the new year. But the world’s definition of perfection means nothing without God.
I’ve found that my dream job, guy, or home/car can still be a nightmare if it wasn’t sent from God. Even when we come from a sincere place in wanting those things, it means nothing if they aren’t Heaven sent.
Although I have my resolutions, I really want to keep in mind that none of what I have on my list matters if it isn’t what God wants for me. The fact is, a dream without God can only be a nightmare.
