I don’t feel like it…

I’ve been dealing a lot with feelings lately. Mainly because feelings don’t really matter all that much. Sure, you want to feel good, or feel like it, but it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. Because whether you’re feeling it or not, it’s got to be done.

But the interesting thought that came to me yesterday was, if I get to spend an eternity feeling like it, then surely I can spend a lifetime when I don’t. You know, if I don’t feel like showing love, but I do, shouldn’t it be all the more motivating to know that I will feel like it for an eternity.

I guess I’m saying, if there are things you don’t feel like doing in this life, but it glorifies God, then it might motivate you to feel more like it knowing that for eternity you will feel like it.

This life is just that. It’s this life. But what we do will determine how we will spend eternity. And I just don’t want to get to Heaven and tell God I didn’t go to church because I didn’t feel like it. I didn’t say I loved that person because I didn’t feel like it. I didn’t give more because I didn’t feel like it.

That’s a sad thought. To think that you made it to Heaven and the only response you can give God for not doing more work for Him is because you didn’t feel like it… even though He felt like you needed another chance.
