I call it being a perfectionist. If I can’t do anything exactly right then I wont do it at all. I call that being a perfectionist.
But, there’s nothing perfect about attempting only what you know you can achieve. That’s being careful at best. That’s accepting limitations. That’s binding.
What perfection looks like for me, I don’t know. What I do know is that it’s not what I’ve been doing. Perfection is much more risky than you think. It’s much more sacrificial than we think. And it’s actually a lot less safe.
There isn’t safety in striving for perfection. There’s failure, there’s heartache, and there’s loss. And you know what, the risk of not striving is even greater.
